new soccer clothes

My car was broken into a few days ago -- I thought it was just someone throwing a rock into the window. But I realized today, a few hours before soccer, that all my soccer clothes, including cleats, socks, shorts, and jersey, were all in the backpack in the backseat. Which isn't there anymore. ha!

Everything else was intact, including the ipod in the front seat. Joke's on them. Thanks for reminding me to get some new cleats. They were getting worn-out.

the floor register incident

I asked my dad if he had a spare fishing pole and, maybe, a salmon lure or two. You know the kind, they look like grappling hooks with a shiny little metal piece above them. The fishing line was probably the only thing long enough to do the trick.

See, during winter, it's quite chilly in the upstairs of the house. It turns out, there's only one true heat vent leading upstairs. It's not always cold enough to require much heat. One day in January, it was about 30 degrees outside; it was time to open the vent. Unfortunately, the vent dealy, otherwise known as a "floor register", was broken -- the vents wouldn't turn. So removing the "floor register" from the floor was necessary.

Whist replacing the "floor register", it accidentally plummeted down the heat vent. I waited to hear the crash.

BOOM

I couldn't see the "floor register" anymore. I had to use a flashlight to find the thing.

Luckily, as my dad told me, "floor registers" are easily purchased in hardware stores. I missed my chance to go fishing...

macgyver is awesome.

Anyone who knows me, knows I like MacGyver. It's one of my all-time favorite series... until it got lame in the last two seasons. Rule of thumb: Vancouver episodes: good. LA episodes: lame.

In any case, check out these mini-myths where the Mythbusters try a bunch of MacGyver myths...

fremont sonic boom

it's kinda sad that the Fremont Sonic Boom Records is closing. I started working on their website (and computer support) back in 1999 maybe. I forget the exact time. It's been a long time. Anyway, the thing that sticks out in my mind was the Death Cab For Cutie instore -- it was, I think, the night before their second record, We Have the Facts and We're Voting Yes, was released. Maybe it's just because I really like this picture:
