law & order 24 hours/day

Over the past 3 days, I've seen maybe 7 hours of various Law & Orders. It's not my fault, really, it's just that there's really nothing else on TV anymore. You can choose between CSIs and Law & Orders; I choose Law and Orders because I'm most familiar with it.

Not only that, on Friday the Law & Order channel advertised a marathon on Saturday. They had just played 17 straight episodes and TOMORROW is the marathon? Maybe in order to be a real marathon, it needs to be 26.2 episodes in a row.

In any case, on tonight's Law & Order run, the channel advertises that on Saturday there's going to be a marathon. Maybe that's when the marathon ends.

Starbucks. From Above!

There are two Starbucks Coffees in the Columbia Tower.

The first is on the first floor; the second is on the 40th. It's, by far, the coolest Starbucks in Seattle.

It's a little like Austin Powers... You just don't expect there to be a Starbucks in a huge tower on the 40th floor!

To get to this Starbucks, you have to take 3 escalators to the 4th floor then take an express elevator to the 40th floor. You'll see the Starbucks right there - it's a full-working, normal Starbucks - they even have the Top Pot donuts.

What's your favorite late night snack?

My new favorite late night snack is popcorn. I fry up a little batch of popcorn every week or so. It's quick, easy, and tasty.

Before that, I'd been making hashbrowns every once-in-awhile. Hashbrowns are easy. Here's my secret recipe:

  • Boil potatoes for 20 minutes then cool for 20 minutes
  • using a cheese grater, shred potatoes in a pan and cook on med-high heat.

So...what are your favorite late night snacks?

This post contains information based on work-related topics, such as wordsmithing and food describing

My job includes, at the moment, writing snappy descriptions for a series of recipes on a related topic. Here's an example from Food Services of America (where I did the exact same thing):

Top 5 Reasons I Enjoy Working in Downtown Seattle

  1. Salumi. Wonderful sandwiches. I've been to Salumi 4 times in the 3 weeks I've been working downtown. It's difficult to get there if you don't work downtown or are unemployed. They are only open from like 11-3 on Tuesdays to Fridays. But those Hot Sopressata sandwiches.

  2. Atlantic Street Pizza. After 2 years of Eurest pizza, it's a much needed change. That Atlantic Street Pizza is fantastic.

  3. Getting to know my neighbors by riding the 28 bus from Ballard to Pioneer Square. This is a no-brainer.

  4. Lots of coffee shops.

  5. Close to the water. You can hear the foghorns of the boats very clearly.
